On December 18, the "New Shanghai" ship, loaded with fruits such as avocados, blueberries, grapes from Peru, and seafood products like squid slices, docked at the Yangshan Port in Shanghai. December 18, 2024, also marked the completion of the first official voyage from Chancay Port in Peru to Shanghai for the "New Shanghai" ship. According to statistics from the Shanghai Customs, the Chancay-Shanghai route accumulated a total import and export value of 5.57 billion yuan and 205,000 tons of import and export goods in one year. After the new route was opened, the sea transit time from Peru to China was shortened from over a month to around 23 days, which significantly benefited the import of fresh goods such as fruits. Among these, Peruvian grapes, avocados, and blueberries are the main commodities on this route. In the first 11 months of this year, Shanghai port imported Peruvian fruits worth 2.58 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 117.4%.
