In the first quarter of 2024, Iran experienced a notable increase in its pistachio exports to the European Union, with a 17% rise compared to the same period in the previous year, totaling €34 million. Despite a minor 3.0% decrease in unshelled pistachio exports, which stood at €8.7 million, there was a significant 26% surge in the exports of shelled pistachios, reaching €25.3 million. Germany emerged as the largest European importer of Iranian pistachios, receiving 71% of the total exports, thereby positioning Iran as the second-largest pistachio exporter to the EU, following the United States.
