Rain and hail do not affect grape harvest

The Conjunctural Report released by Emater/RS-Ascar this Thursday (4) indicates that the harvest of the Vênus grape variety should begin in the coming days in the administrative region of Caxias do Sul, in the Serra Gaúcha. In other locations, such as Ametista do Sul, the harvest is already underway, with producers receiving between R$ 4.00 and R$ 5.00 per kilo. According to the report, "localized outbreaks of downy mildew and botrytis" were observed, but without significant impacts on the final volume of the harvest. The publication also states that, despite the heavy rains and hail, "there was no interference in the final volume of the harvest." In the vineyards planted or recently renewed where there was damage, farmers had to reinforce "healing treatments, mainly for the control of downy mildew and rot."
