Western Australia's grain crop is projected to reach 18.6 million tonnes, making it the third largest on record, according to the Grain Industry Association of Western Australia's November 2024 Crop Report. The Kwinana zone is expected to contribute the majority of the deliveries. The crop consists of 10.3 million tonnes of wheat, 4.52 million tonnes of barley, 2.59 million tonnes of canola, 590,000 tonnes of oats, 505,000 tonnes of lupins, and 73,000 tonnes of pulses. Despite below average rainfall in most regions, grain yields are higher than expected and grain quality is variable. Canola, lupin, and oat grain yields are coming in higher than expected, contributing to the increased tonnage estimates.
