A recent storm featuring rainfall and hailstones has wreaked havoc on agricultural areas in the southwest region of Mahottari district, Nepal, particularly affecting crops such as wheat, barley, lentil, and vegetables. The storm hit several areas along the Nepal-India border, including Sonama, Samsi, Manarishiwa, Gaushala, Aurahi, Ramgopalpur, and Balawa, just as farmers were gearing up for the harvest season. The damage was especially severe for wheat crops and pumpkin and gourd farms, with the western regions of Bhangaha and Ekdara also severely impacted. This event followed five days of continuous rainfall, which initially seemed beneficial to the farmers but was quickly overshadowed by the destructive hailstorms and windstorms.
