In October 2021, Vietnam's Office of Notification and National Inquiry Point on Sanitation, Epidemiology and Quarantine (SPS) announced that four notices for food safety violations were issued by the European Union (RASFF) for Vietnamese exported food products. The violations included the presence of hazardous plant protection drugs and banned substances in rambutan products, chlorpyrifos residues in dried wood ear products, and Bacillus cereus bacteria in cinnamon powder. The SPS Office urged businesses to adhere to import market regulations to avoid warnings and reputation damage. There were over 400 notices on the EU's Food and Feed Safety Alert System in October for products with violations, primarily related to microbiological contamination and pesticide residue levels.
