Despite lower availability, the UK has been exporting oats at a faster rate than usual in the first half of the 2023/24 marketing season, driven by demand from the EU. The UK exported 74.2 Kt of oats from July to December 2023, a decrease from 89.5 Kt in the same period of the previous season, but significantly higher than the five-year average of 46.8 Kt. Belgium, Spain, and Germany were the main destinations. To meet the AHDB's forecast of 100 Kt for the season, the UK needs to export an additional 25.8 Kt from January to June.
