Domestic tofu and tempeh producers are facing a shortage of soybeans since early December 2023, causing production to stop. Importers have limited sales to tofu and tempe craftsmen, and the shortage is affecting around 30,000 out of 150,000 craftsmen. The Chairman of the Association of Indonesian Tofu and Tempe Crafts Cooperatives is urging the government to resolve the issue, as the soybean shortage continues to occur and no significant changes have been seen.
