Turkey has seen a significant increase in its sesame exports, with a 62% rise to $124.5 million in 2023, compared to $77 million in 2022. The country aims to further boost these exports to $250 million. China is the primary importer of Turkey's high-quality sesame, which is sold at $2.4 per unit. In the first two months of 2024, sesame exports surged by 170% to $1.7 million. Additionally, cumin and anise exports also saw substantial increases during the same period, rising by 106% to $2.24 million and 111% to $754,000 respectively.
