The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries is collaborating with multiple organizations to replace Chinese-processed scallops with scallops from a third country, starting with Vietnam. JETRO will investigate seafood processing facilities in Vietnam that meet the necessary sanitary conditions for exporting to the United States and provide information to businesses. JETRO will also invite overseas buyers to visit production areas in Japan and large-scale food exhibitions to conduct business negotiations with seafood exporters.
