Regulation for the marketing of olive oil published

The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAPA) has published this Tuesday the marketing standard for olive oil for the 2025-2026 campaign, which seeks to prevent possible distortions in case of overproduction. The Official State Gazette (BOE) includes the order, which includes a possible withdrawal of the product if there is an oversupply of oil, which is "improbable" given the forecast for this campaign's harvest. The indispensable condition to activate this mechanism would be that the level of initial stocks plus production estimates reached 120% of the average level of this sum of the six previous campaigns, MAPA specified in a statement. According to the estimates communicated by the autonomous communities at the beginning of October, it does not seem that the thresholds and conditions for the effective application of the measure will be reached, but the Ministry has chosen to have the standard available in case its application is necessary.
