The return of McDonald's Snack Wraps has been a success among customers to the point of causing an impact on the network's lettuce supply. Some McDonald's units experienced a shortage of lettuce and other ingredients after the network brought back the fried chicken strips rolled in tortillas this month, according to restaurant operators and a company message viewed by the outlet. In a communication about a week ago, McDonald's informed affected U.S. franchisees to avoid adding chopped lettuce to McChicken sandwiches in order to help preserve the restaurants' green leaf supply. For customers dissatisfied with lettuce-free McChicken sandwiches, restaurant operators were instructed to offer McNuggets or a McDouble burger as an alternative.
