As of January 2024, Ukraine still has 10% of its corn unharvested, primarily in the Kherson and Kharkiv regions, due to low market prices and high drying costs. Despite some farmers considering a switch to oilseed cultivation, others like Mykola Baibarak and the LNZ Group still find corn profitable and beneficial for soil health. Even with a decrease in corn cultivation from 4.3 million hectares in 2022 to 3.8 million in 2023, corn continues to play a vital role in Ukraine's crop rotation.
