A New Year's survey conducted by Areda Survey found that 43.2% of Turkish people plan to celebrate the holiday, with 86% of celebrations taking place at home. Among those celebrating, 61.5% want their family with them, and watching TV is the most popular activity. For the New Year's meal, chicken is the most popular choice at 51.2%, with cake being the favorite dessert at 41.8%. In terms of expectations for the new year, the top three desires are for health, peace, and money. Among those who do not celebrate New Year's Eve, the most common reasons include religious beliefs, finding the holiday meaningless, and being affected by world events such as news of martyrs and events in Palestine.
