However, the grass pea consumed in Spain comes almost entirely from Argentina and Chile due to the lack of national production and the absence of certified seed in Spain. A group of producers, including the company Agrícola Peñarroya and the Bustillo Legacy, have not only pursued the recovery of this native crop but have also promoted the establishment of the Association of Grass Pea Flour Manufacturers and later the creation of a Designation of Origin in which the varieties registered by the IAS-CSIC researchers have played a fundamental role.
