Vietnam is set to reach a historic milestone by achieving around 7.2 billion USD in fruit and vegetable exports by the end of the year, surpassing its target of 6 - 6.5 billion USD, primarily due to the significant growth in exports to China. With a 27% increase over the same period and adding 900 million USD to the total, the fruit and vegetable export turnover as of November stood at 6.6 billion USD. Other significant markets include the US, Korea, Thailand, Japan, Australia, and the United Arab Emirates, noting the notable increase in exports to the US by 35%. Durians and bananas have been key drivers of this growth, with durian exports alone contributing to 45% of the total turnover and bananas dominating the Chinese market. The success of Vietnamese fruits and vegetables in these markets is attributed to their quality, affordability, and the diverse range of products on offer, prompting the need for farmers to maintain quality and focus on sustainable cultivation practices to further enhance their export competitiveness.
