The 28th session of the FAO/WHO Codex Alimentarius Committee on Fats and Oils in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, concluded with the adoption of the revised Standard for olive oil and olive-pomace oil. The committee also agreed on standards for various other oils including avocado, camellia seed, sacha inchi, calanus, and high oleic acid soybean oil, which will be submitted for approval to the Codex Alimentarius Commission. The committee also began work to reduce industrial trans fatty acids and eliminate partially hydrogenated oils from foods, in line with the World Health Organization's mission.
