The Ministry of Agriculture and the National Agrarian Scientific and Educational Center of Kazakhstan have launched a program to revive the unique Aport apple variety, known for its aroma and large size, which requires specific cultivation conditions. The program, set to run from 2024 to 2028, involves collecting seedlings, developing national standards for growth, and expanding production. In 2025, 10 hectares of land will be used as a mother-cutting garden, and by 2027, 100 hectares will be dedicated to the apple variety. The revival of the aport variety started in 2011, with over 1,000 Sievers apple tree species identified, 11 of which were selected for the blood-red aport variety. The first planting in 2015 saw the production of 6 tons of apples in 2023.
