Gangjin County (County Head Kang Jin-won) has started purchasing this year's public reserve grains from the 3rd of this month to stabilize the supply and demand of rice and ensure a stable food supply. The purchase will take place in 11 townships until December. The variety of grains targeted for this year's public reserve purchase is the Saecheongnu single variety, based on 40kg per po of rice. The plan is to purchase a total of 275,931 po (11,037 tons), including 166,879 po (6,675 tons) of dried rice, 37,832 po (1,513 tons) of harvested rice, 44,600 po (1,784 tons) of powdered rice, and 26,620 po (1,065 tons) of eco-friendly rice. This purchase is due to the prolonged heavy rainfall that affected the harvesters and the officially recognized agricultural damage caused by the rice stripe virus.
