Russian agricultural exports to the Baltic countries, including Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia, have seen a significant increase in the first half of 2020. The exports comprise of meal and cake, rapeseed oil, beet pulp, alcohol, and fish fillets, with meal and cake leading the export structure. The transport system of the Baltic macroregion plays a crucial role in the transit of Russian agricultural products to other EU countries and beyond. Despite being self-sufficient in grain, milk, and beef, the Baltic countries rely on imports of vegetables and fruits. In 2019, the region imported food for $9.6 billion, with Lithuania focusing on fresh or chilled food, and Estonia and Latvia importing ethyl alcohol and wheat, respectively.
