Rice harvest reaches 22.5% in Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil

Of the 900,203 hectares cultivated with irrigated rice in Rio Grande do Sul, 202,188 hectares (22.5%) were harvested until last week. The remainder is either in the vegetative stage (0.9%), in the reproductive stage (24%), or in the maturation stage (51.5%). In the same period of the year, 50% of the area had already been harvested in the last harvest. These results indicate that we will have a large part of the reproductive phase of the State's rice crops occurring during the month of February and a percentage in March. In the month of February there were no drops in temperature, indicating that rice crops that were in the reproductive phase during this period could achieve good harvest results.
