Rice prices in Vietnam fall, but remain the most expensive in Asia

Thai rice prices are on the rise and about to reach Vietnamese benchmarks. Commenting on the global rice value chain this year, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Phung Duc Tien said prices have never been higher and Vietnamese products are the most expensive in Asia and perhaps the world . Vietnam's production reached 41.17 million tons, which makes the plan to export more than 8 million tons of rice this year highly viable. Production is sufficient for the population and for stocks and use in feed. Rice export volume in 2023 is expected to be the highest in many years. At the end of November, the country had exported 7.75 million tons on a white basis, generating 4.41 billion dollars in foreign exchange, an increase in the value of exports of 36.3% compared to the same period last year.
