Heavy rains in Bulgaria have severely damaged the harvest of fruits and vegetables, causing a rapid increase in prices. Vegetable growers and open-air fruit growers have been hit the hardest, with some areas seeing up to 80% of their crop destroyed. Despite the decrease in domestic production, the Bulgarian market is being compensated by imports, resulting in cheaper prices for apricots, peaches, nectarines, and cucumbers, but higher prices for strawberries and cherries due to limited supply from domestic producers.
