Russia has successfully exported lentils to India, with the Indian Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare allowing indefinite supplies following a favorable phytosanitary risk analysis. The process began in late 2020, with technical information sent for analysis, and trial lots allowed in September 2021 under strict quarantine conditions. All Russian lentil batches have passed the required tests, showing compliance with Indian standards and confirming the effectiveness of the disinfection methods used. Since 2022, lentil exports to India have been under Rosselkhoznadzor's supervision, leading to a significant 23-fold increase in leguminous crop supplies to India since 2024, compared to the same period earlier.
