In Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, over 1,000 rural properties, including wineries and grape processing industries, are nearing the completion of audits for compliance with localg.a.p, a protocol under GLOBALG.A.P for good agricultural practices. This initiative, which started in 2014 with the PAS Uva - Grape Safe Food Program for Processing, aims to align the sector with international standards and innovate processes. Supported by entities like Sebrae-RS, Consevitis-RS, and UPL, the project involves training, consultancy for adaptation, and restructuring of quality management systems. In April, six companies and cooperatives, covering around 200 rural properties, are expected to receive their letters of compliance, marking a significant step towards sustainable, safe, and quality agricultural production in Brazil.
