Since 2022, Russia and its partners have been selling stolen grain from Ukraine's occupied territories, generating almost one billion dollars. The network of clients includes firms involved in the Russian invasion, a company linked to Iran's Revolutionary Guards, and businesses from Syria, Israel, and the UAE. In the first half of 2024, 15 Russian ships transported 81,000 tons of wheat to Turkey from Mariupol. The stolen grain helps Russia offset economic pressure from sanctions, with at least 4 million tons sold internationally, generating about 800 million dollars. The US government also accused the Russian United Shipbuilding Corporation of involvement in illegal grain exportation.
