Russian exports of sunflower, safflower or cottonseed oil and their fractions to the European Union have seen a significant increase in the first nine months of 2022, reaching 71.7 thousand tons with a value of 103.6 million euros, a 533.7% increase in volume and 859.2% increase in value compared to the same period in 2021. The majority of these exports were transported by sea to the Netherlands, Italy, and Lithuania, experiencing substantial growth in imports from these countries. The most significant increase was observed in Lithuania, with a nearly fivefold increase in imports compared to the previous year, primarily in February and May.
