Russia has suspended imports of certain Chinese products due to the discovery of banned components, including high DNA content in genetically modified corn and soy. These substances were found in a variety of Chinese products such as meatballs, chips, eggs, chocolate desserts, and biscuits with toys. Some of these products also contained harmful substances at levels five times above the permissible limit. Additionally, the labels of these products failed to indicate the presence of genetically modified components. The imports of these products were suspended on October 11.
