Russia imports many more onions from Kazakhstan

Recent data from Rosselkhoznadzor shows a striking increase of 1.5 times in the import of onions from Kazakhstan to Russia's Primorsky Krai*. 7,212 tons of onions have been imported since the beginning of 2023. For comparison, in the same period last year the region received 4,879 tons. The Russian Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Supervision provided insight into the total imports of foreign fruit and vegetables to Primorsky Krai from November 13 to 16. During this short period, the region welcomed a total of 5,693.4 tons of fresh produce from seven different foreign countries. Not surprisingly, China was the main supplier, shipping 2,633.7 tons of fresh produce to Primorsky Krai. In addition to the significant influx of onions from Kazakhstan, the region received more than 226 tons of bananas from Ecuador, 150 tons of Korean mandarins and apples, and 113 tons of Argentine pears.
