Between January and July, Russia's octopus imports from China rose by 1.4 times to 245 tons, despite a 29% drop in price per kilogram to 690 rubles. However, overall octopus imports to Russia fell by 3% to 674 tons. While global demand for cephalopods remains high, increased catches in Latin America and higher quotas in Morocco have driven down world prices. In Russia, octopus fishing is limited due to natural conditions, with only 154 tons caught in the Far East last year.
