Russia's sunflower oil exports for the 2023/24 season are projected to increase by 27% from the previous season, reaching approximately 5.2 million tons. This would maintain Russia's position as the world's second-largest supplier, according to Mikhail Maltsev, Executive Director of the Oil and Fat Union. Factors such as logistical issues, settlement problems with key buyers, and the volume of the future oilseed harvest could potentially make Russia the leader in the global sunflower oil market. The price situation in the vegetable oil market has seen some improvement after the grain deal, with the price spread between sunflower, soybean, and palm oil recovering. The extension of the export duty on sunflower oil from Russia until 2026 has also been announced.
