Russia has announced plans to impose a 25% tariff on shelled pine nut exports from August 1, 2024, which will rise to 50% from August 1, 2025. The minimum tariff will be 80 euros per ton, increasing to 160 euros per ton in 2025. This move is aimed at encouraging domestic processing of pine nuts. China, the largest importer of Russian pine nuts, imported over 21,000 tons in 2022 and nearly 8,000 tons in 2023.
