In the first eight months of this year, Russia supplied nearly 11 million tons of agricultural products to African countries, worth over $2.8 billion, reports TASS citing data from the federal center "Agroexport." In particular, supplies to West African states reached $421 million—twice as much as in 2022-2023, noted the head of "Agroexport" Ilya Ilyushin at the session "Prospects for Cooperation between Russia and West African Countries in the Agricultural Sector" during the "Golden Autumn" exhibition. He explained that sanctions had negatively impacted trade between Russia and West African countries, but the situation is now improving. The main product of Russian exports to West Africa remains wheat, with exports last year totaling 1.7 million tons worth $383 million.
