Russian Center for the Development of Agricultural Exports: From January to August this year, Russia's exports of canola oil to China increased by 55%

According to statistics from the Russian Agricultural Products Export Development Center, from January to August 2025, Russia exported over 850,000 tons of canola oil to China, with an export value of nearly 840 million US dollars. During the same period last year, the export volume was over 609,000 tons, with an export value exceeding 540 million US dollars.

Reports indicate that from January to August 2025, Russia's exports of canola oil to China increased by 40% year-on-year, and the export value increased by 55% year-on-year.

From January to August 2025, Russia exported a total of over 970,000 tons of canola oil, with a total export value of nearly 960 million US dollars. The export volume increased by 38% year-on-year, and the export value increased by 55% year-on-year.

According to data from the International Trade Center's Trade Map, Russia was the third-largest exporter of canola oil globally in 2024, following Canada and Germany.

On March 18, the Russian Agricultural Products Export Center informed the satellite news agency that according to preliminary statistics, in 2024, Russia exported over 8.3 million tons of agricultural products to China, with a total export value of approximately 7.4 billion US dollars. Among the agricultural products exported from Russia to China, the largest export by volume was canola oil (13%), followed by barley (10%), and then sunflower oil and peas (each 8%), and soybeans (7%). China became the main importer of Russian agricultural products in 2024, maintaining this position for two consecutive years.
