In 2020, Russia saw a 32% increase in tea and coffee exports, totaling 73 thousand tons and valued at $350 million, with coffee sales experiencing the greatest growth. Ground and grain coffee exports rose by 50% in volume and 33% in value, while instant coffee and related products increased by 47% in kind and 52% in value. Tea exports also grew by 3.4% to 21 thousand tons, with green tea seeing the largest increase. The majority of these exports were made to Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Ukraine, with significant increases in sales to Israel, the USA, and Turkey. The growth in tea and coffee exports is attributed to the competitive pricing, ruble exchange rate, and pandemic-driven shifts in consumption. The global tea and coffee markets are projected to continue growing at substantial rates due to factors such as the promotion of healthy eating and increased disposable income.
