Russia has seen a significant increase in the production of cucumbers and tomatoes in greenhouse farms, with a yield of 725,000 tons and 503,000 tons respectively, marking a growth of 7.7% and 7.4% respectively. The leading regions for this production include Lipetsk, Moscow, Volgograd, Kaluga, Belgorod regions, Krasnodar and Stavropol regions, the republics of Karachay-Cherkessia, Tatarstan and Bashkortostan. The government is supporting the greenhouse vegetable growing industry through preferential investment loans and subsidies, contributing to a self-sufficiency in vegetable products of approximately 75% in 2022. The country is also looking at potential for import substitution in flowers, hops, and berries, with a forecasted increase in berry and fruit production to 2.2 million tons by 2025.
