According to reports, from January to April 2025, Russia supplied approximately 391,000 tons of flaxseed to China, with an export value of $197 million. During the same period last year, the export volume was around 267,000 tons, with an export value of $124 million.
In the first four months of this year, Russia's flaxseed exports to China increased by 46% year-on-year, with export value rising by 59%.
Flaxseed is known for its health benefits and is often used in cooking and medicine. Flaxseed is used to treat ulcers, gastritis, help eliminate toxins from the body, lower cholesterol, and enhance liver function and immunity.
On March 18, the Russian Agricultural Export Center told Russian Sputnik News that, according to preliminary estimates, Russia's agricultural product exports to China in 2024 exceeded 8.3 million tons, with a total export value of approximately $7.4 billion. Among Russia's agricultural exports to China, rapeseed oil ranks first (13%), followed by barley (10%), sunflower oil and peas (8% each), and soybeans (7%). China has become the main importer of Russian agricultural products in 2024 and has maintained this position for two consecutive years.
