The Voronezh Region Government, under the leadership of Governor Alexander Gusev and Deputy Chairman Viktor Logvinov, has hosted an interregional scientific and practical conference with a focus on the production of functional and specialized nutrition products, underscoring the region's commitment to improving health and quality of life for its population. This initiative is aligned with President Vladimir Putin's decree on the development of such food products.
The conference saw the inauguration of Russia's first amaranth processing plant by 'Russian Olive,' a company under the Scientific and Production Holding 'AmarantAgro.' The plant, located in the 'Center' special economic zone of the Voronezh Region, is an investment of 1.525 billion rubles and will process 6 thousand tons of amaranth grain annually, creating 149 jobs with an average salary of at least 102 thousand rubles. The plant's products, including dietary supplements and pet food, will be made from amaranth grown in the Volgograd and Kemerovo regions. The company is actively researching the nutritional and medicinal properties of amaranth and plans to expand, with support from the regional authorities, to include 10 production lines by 2030.
