The Agricultural and Livestock Service in Chile is taking preventive measures against African Swine Fever (ASF) following its detection in the Dominican Republic, the first case in America. Despite ASF not posing a risk to human health, the service is increasing border controls inspections, particularly on flights from the Dominican Republic, Panama, and the Caribbean, and advising passengers not to bring animal products. Chile remains free of ASF, a disease that can cause up to 100% mortality in pigs, and is intensifying clinical surveillance and collaborating with international organizations to develop prevention strategies.
