Tobacco producers have already harvested half of the 23 million kilos planned for this campaign and for now they are satisfied with the results, despite the high summer and autumn temperatures that have increased irrigation costs, with the consequent reduction of their margins. From Extremadura, Dionisio Sánchez, member of the National Federation of Tobacco Growers, assured Efeagro that "it is the first time that he has had to irrigate in the month of October" since he started, more than 40 years ago, with this crop.
