Saudi Arabia has seen a significant increase in fruit production, with a 194 percent rise in six years, reaching 2.7 million tons by the end of 2020. The country is now the world's second-largest producer of dates, with 1.5 million tons in 2020, and exports grew by 7.1 percent, earning SR927 million (215.7 million euros). The per capita consumption of fruits and vegetables in Saudi Arabia was 77kg and 62kg, respectively, but the Ministry of Agriculture aims to increase these figures. The main fruits grown in Saudi Arabia include a variety of crops such as pomegranates, grapes, watermelon, cantaloupe, mangoes, strawberries, bananas, apples, oranges, apricots, and peaches.
