North Korea is promoting a farming method that involves sowing rice seeds in greenhouses and planting rice, as a way to increase food production. The method is expected to have economic benefits by allowing the growth of strong seedlings regardless of weather and soil conditions, and by reducing labor and material requirements compared to outdoor seedling growth. The country is introducing this method on a pilot basis in various regions, including South Hwanghae Province, and is also focusing on other ways to improve agricultural production, such as breeding superior varieties, scientificizing farming, finding new land, improving low-yield areas, and strengthening party leadership in the agricultural sector.
