Russian scientists have developed two new varieties of crops, spring oats "Svetik" and barley "Kvart," designed for cultivation in northern regions of Russia. After eight years of research, "Svetik" is a mid-season oat with high protein content, good yield, and resistance to lodging and shattering, suitable for both food and feed grain production. On the other hand, "Kvart," developed since 2008, is an early maturing barley variety that offers higher yields and resistance to unfavorable environmental factors and diseases, making it ideal for the northern regions.
