In Sevastopol, biologists for the first time received offspring from oysters grown in the Black Sea, OTR reports. The technology was tested in an experimental nursery. In laboratories, future parents were selected, from which they received a million microscopic larvae. Now the juveniles have grown to a size of one and a half centimeters and will soon be moved to the sea. There the oysters will reach commercial sizes. All this technology is also import substitution. Last year, due to sanctions, larvae, the so-called spat, were no longer supplied to Russia. And now you need to learn how to grow them yourself.
