Dalian and Weihai cities in China are the primary locations for sea cucumber farming and exploration. Jian Island in Dalian is famous for its large number of sea cucumbers and is currently a wild sea cucumber reserve. The sea cucumbers are caught and processed quickly for sale, mainly in Dalian and domestically. Dalian supplies seeds for large sea cucumber farming areas in China, including Weihai and Fujian cities. Weihai explores over 5,000 tons of sea cucumbers annually, and also processes and combines farming with tourism, handling both domestic and international seafood needs.
