In April, Norway experienced a surge in the value of its seafood exports due to a weakening Norwegian krone, despite a decrease in volume to the lowest since 2007. The majority of the export value came from aquaculture, with salmon being a key contributor. Despite lower volumes, the value of salmon exports to Denmark, the US, and China increased, with Denmark serving as a transit point to other EU markets. Trout, cod, and other white fish exports also contributed to the overall value, with Spain seeing the largest increase in value for fresh cod. Overall, the price per kilogram for fresh whole salmon in April was NOK 113.60, and for trout, it was NOK 152/kg.
