A second special inspection of imported seafood origin labeling will be conducted from the 19th to June 5th. In this special inspection, a 'joint public-private inspection team' composed of national fishery quality management officials and honorary surveillance officers will focus on checking five seafood items. The Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries aims to eradicate origin labeling violations for imported seafood so consumers can purchase seafood with confidence. From March 10th to 28th, they targeted three items with high import volumes (frozen croaker, frozen mackerel, frozen blue crab) and six items with frequent false labeling cases (live octopus, live red seabream, live scallops).
