Seed import quotas in Russia may come into effect on February 1

From February 1 to December 31, 2024, quotas may be established in Russia on the import of certain types of agricultural seeds from unfriendly countries. Interfax was informed about this by the press service of the Ministry of Economic Development. The Subcommittee on Customs, Tariff and Non-Tariff Regulation, and Protective Measures in Foreign Trade previously supported the Ministry of Agriculture’s proposal to temporarily limit the number of imported seeds of certain types of agricultural crops. The specific parameters of the planned restrictions will be determined by a government decree, which is being developed by the Ministry of Agriculture.
