In 2024, Serbia experienced a notable shift in its agricultural practices, as reported by its national statistical office. Wheat planting significantly increased by 8.6% to 590,483 hectares, and barley planting also saw a slight rise of 1% to 96,369 hectares. On the other hand, rye planting decreased by 1.7% to 4,531 hectares, and oat planting experienced a notable decrease of 9% to 13,040 hectares. The most striking change was in rapeseed planting, which surged by 37% to 48,445 hectares. Despite the expanded wheat planting area, Serbia's wheat harvest fell by 16% to 2.9 million tonnes compared to the previous year. This development in Serbia's grain sector will be discussed in the 22nd International Conference BLACK SEA GRAIN. EUROPE-2025 in Prague.
