The article reports on the successful sesame cultivation in seven upazilas of the Manikganj district in Bangladesh. The Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) had set the cultivation area at 4200 hectares with a production goal of 4325 tonnes for the current season. Due to the district's sandy soil and the ease of cultivation, sesame farming has seen a significant increase, outgrowing the set targets in both the previous and current seasons. Habibur Rahman, a farmer, praises the crop for its ease of cultivation and lack of need for fertilizers. Md. Shahjahan Ali Biswas, the DAE deputy director, attributes the rise in cultivation to the district's suitability for sesame and the reasonable prices paid to farmers.
